Welcome to
Science Fiction magazine publishing began in 1926 when "Amazing Stories" appeared. Its editor was Hugo Gernsback, who called these kind of stories "scientification".
Early Science Fiction was generally of poor quality and magazines had sensational covers. Things took a turn for the better when John W. Campbell Jr. became editor of "Astounding Science Fiction" and demanded a better quality of writing, thus beginning the Golden Age of Science Fiction.
Two new quality magazines appeared in the late 1940s: "The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction" (1949) and "Galaxy" (1950).
In Britain the 1950s saw an explosion of SF magazine publication with native magazines such as "New Worlds", "Authentic", "Nebula" and "Science Fantasy" hitting newsagents as well as a large number of "British Editions" of the American magazines.
The 1960s saw the first mass marketing of Science Fiction paperbacks, which was the death knell for many magazines.
The 1970s saw the publication of 2 new successful sci-fi magazines: "Interzone" in the UK and "Asimov's" in the US, which are both going strong along with perennial survivors, "Analog" and "FSF".
Dynamic Pulps hopes to serve the collector of these wonderful magazines by providing an easy to use website with quick and friendly response to orders and enquiries.
